Hello, I am Heong-joon PARK, the Mayor of Busan, and I am honored to serve as Co-President of the Organizing Committee for the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals Busan 2024. I am extremely delighted that the first-ever World Table Tennis Championships to be held in Korea will take place in Busan in 2024.

Busan is not only a charming coastal city with plenty of attractions, food, and sights to enjoy, but also a city that hosts international sports events such as national team matches and A-matches every year. In June, Busan ranked 6th in the "World's Most Livable Cities Index" published by the renowned British economic analysis institution, EIU. Furthermore, BEXCO, where the competition will be held, has received international acclaim from the International Table Tennis Federation for its excellent stadium facilities and operational capabilities, as evidenced by the successful hosting of events such as the APEC Summit and the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit.

The ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals Busan 2024 presented by BNK Busan Bank holds great significance and expectations as it will be the first international sports event to break free from the global disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in recent years. I hope that it will bring great comfort and solace to people around the world who have been longing for a return to normalcy. It resembles the current state of Busan, as if it is embarking on a new path that has never been taken before, just like Korean table tennis entering uncharted territory. I sincerely support and wish for the success of this competition, hoping that it will bring about significant achievements for Korean table tennis.

The ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals Busan 2024 presented by BNK Busan Bank is a significant event as it marks the first-ever hosting of the World Table Tennis Championships in Republic of Korea. Overcoming the disappointment of the cancellation of the 2020 event, we have successfully re-attracted this prestigious tournament.

The organizing committee is putting great effort and determination into the preparation of the event with a united spirit. With the active cooperation of various members such as Busan Metropolitan City, the Korea Table Tennis Association, and our partners, we are confident that this will be successful championships.

Korean table tennis has been shining in recent international tournaments with achievements such as a silver medal in the women's doubles at the Durban World Table Tennis Championships 2023 for the first time in 30 years, consecutive appearances in the men's doubles final at the World Championships, and players ranking in the top 10 of the world rankings. We owe this success to the continuous support and interest from all the table tennis fans. As the 2024 Paris Olympics qualification will be at stake, we kindly ask for your unwavering support for the players who will give their best on this stage.
